Campus Oaks

Walking to my temp job every day for the past few weeks, I pass these beautiful oak trees on the UT campus, which stand before the buildings where I used to attend most of my English classes, and border the lawn and benches where I used to loaf and write and think and yearn and mourn. I used to think how big and mighty they were back in the '80s when I first moved among them... And now they're 35 years older and bigger (as am I, but I've certainly not gained their additional grandeur).
