Please Please Me (1963)

While I was in my dentist's office today, there was a steady stream of bland '90s "hits" playing. I had to sit there for over a half-hour listening to this blandness. No energy, no originality, no nothing. While I was trapped both in the waiting room and in the dental chair, listening to this nothing-ness (and, seriously, at one point, the crappy tattooed dental assistant was humming along to one of these insipid songs), I flashed back to what I found exciting as a teen (and I was a teen when everyone else was listening to the ridiculous Styx and Boston and REO Speedwagon---I HATED those bands, and still dislike them today).

One radio station was playing Beatles songs constantly in the Summer of 1980. Thank you for introducing me to them (thanks also to the extremely well-written "Beatles Forever" book by Nicholas Schaffner).
