Sotheby's auction touted by Frieda: Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes (2021)

Frieda Hughes is actually offering up her parents' wedding rings at auction.

For shame, I say.

I had the same reaction when the Twin that Joan Crawford liked most (Cathy LaLonde), and left her belongings to, also sold off her mother's belongings, including her Oscar, in 1993, at Christie's auction.

Are these ageing kids THAT desperate for money? Desperate enough to actually sell the wedding rings of Plath/Hughes and Joan Crawford's Oscar? There's no sense of connection or closeness with your parents? No important representative of them that you'd like to keep close? (In Frieda's case: You're really selling all of those family photo albums? You're truly a hard case.)

Oh, OK. Hope you enjoy your new car or home furnishings.
