According to the Milford bio, when Zelda Fitzgerald was in her years-long ballet phase, she'd play "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" (written by Jessel in 1897) for hours on end (6 or 7am until 10 at night), and day after day, while she practiced her ballet steps.
(As a result of this ongoing music, Scott Fitzgerald moved his writing study to another building; and one house-guest claimed that after listening to it for so often, the tune was forevermore engraved into his every organ.)
OK...This isn't serious "ballet-practicing music." It's a ridiculous tune, and it's something intended to piss off her husband and (after over 10 hours daily) disrupt the whole house. What Scott Fitzgerald needed to do was parade up the stairs and dramatically break this record over Zelda's head and toss it out the window.
If you read enough about the two of them: They're both equally awful to each other at the wrong times. And tolerant at the wrong times.
